The Purpose
--The Social Issue-- Unhealthy eating habit of Americans. --My Audience-- In broad sense, it is for anyone who loves fast food, but more specifically, teachers and parents are the main priority, since their decisions can influence greatly on American youth. --The Problem-- 1. Americans love fast-food corporations, and they are known to provide unhealthy food. Fast food chains have been a large part of American culture, and they’ve been around for ages. The American culture have grown together with the fast food chains, and its popularity is world famous. A recent study shows that Kids like their food better when they're in McDonald's wrapper . It's another proof that general public have not only grown familiar with the food, but love it regardless of what they provide. 2. Americans love fast food, despite the wide known fact that they’re dangerously unhealthy. Are they truly aware of what they’re eating? But the real problem is, people love fast food, in spite of all the unhealthy nutritional facts that are easily accessible. Also, there are multiple documents providing the dangers of eating fast food; a book, Fast Food Nation by investigative journalist, Eric Schlosser, and a movie, Super Size Me by film maker, Morgan Spurlock. 3. The youth of America is growing up to love fast food. A recent study shows that kids prefer McDonald's, and it shows how powerful branding can be even though you have the same meal with different wrappers. I was referred to this article by an editor of AOL Body / Health section that commercials are brainwashing the kids to think McDonald's are tasty. Thus, part of the problem in unhealthy eating habits lie in education. --Ultimate question-- Are you willing to risk your health by eating fast food? --Goal-- Inform audience by gathering and structuring information in an effective way, and help them educate others about importance of healthy eating habits. |
